I am an artist, printmaker and forager based in Devon, UK.
Through my practice I explore an interest in manual printmaking techniques, including monotype, hard and soft ground copperplate etching, mezzotint and screenprint; the methodical and time-consuming nature of the print process being of great importance to the work as a whole. I also like to work with bookbinding techniques, finding that it is a useful way for me to physically separate, edit and categorise ideas.
My work is inspired by ongoing interest in and my connection to the natural world; specifically walking in the landscape and my experiences of foraging for wild food, particularly that which grows urban green spaces.
I use walking within my art practice both as a vehicle for discussion and to encourage an interaction between person and place. To me, learning about my place within the geography of a city or landscape is more than a picture or print on a wall to sum up the journey. I strive to engage the viewer in the process, discovery and methodology I have undertaken to learn about my related subject matter.
