In October 2011 I had the opportunity to assist with the coming together of an exhibition at Aberystwyth Arts Centre called ‘We Spirited Creatures’. It was a mixed collection of artwork by contemporary artists and museum artefacts from Ceredigion Museum that all centred around the relationship between animals, which became a strange world where plastic dinosaurs conversed with china dogs whilst bespectacled owls looked on. I assisted the curators of the exhibition throughout the week, helping transport taxidermy items from the museum, organising the display cases, placing and handling the work and photographing the process. It was a hugely valuable experienced and helped me gain a better understanding of the practicalities surrounding such a diverse collection of art.
